Looking for a Church?

A movement for wholeness in a fractured world.
We honor our heritage as a movement for Christian unity by cooperating and partnering with other faith communities to work for bringing about wholeness – healing and justice – in the world. This is what it means to be “deeply ecumenical.” One example is our cooperative work with the United Church of Christ in Global Ministries for the past 25 years and our newer effort to share staff in the area of family ministries.
We also honor the mission of wholeness by staying together in covenant as a witness to the world that even when we disagree we can still make room, welcoming all to the table as Christ has welcomed us.  We are not perfect, nor do we have all the answers, but we trust that our journey together with Jesus gives meaning to all of our questions, hopes, and concerns.
Our spiritual ancestors were fond of saying, “unity, not uniformity”.

When I Show Up

We are so happy that you've chosen to join us for our Sunday morning worship! You will be greeted with an order of service so you can follow along.  You’ll see people in jeans sitting alongside folks in dresses or slacks or shorts, and maybe even an occasional suit & tie. Being here and being comfortable is more important than what you wear.

We are also handicap accessible! We offer a accessible parking, an outside ramp to the building, an elevator to take you to the Sanctuary (press button "1"), and a handicap accessible bathroom is available near the sanctuary. We also offer assistive listening devices upon request.  We want everyone to be able to worship here!

Inclusive Communion

The Lord’s Supper is celebrated every week, as it is in all Disciples congregations.  We celebrate an “open table,” meaning that ALL people are welcome to participate fully in worship, take communion, and share in fellowship.  Christ’s love knows no bounds!

No Strings Attached

We know that showing up at a new church can bring up a lot of questions or concerns. We want you to know that you will be under no pressure to sign up for anything or give any money or be put on the spot in any way. We just want you to participate in the ways that you want. We are excited that you've chosen to join us for worship.

About Our Symbols

Picture
The symbol of our denomination is a chalice with the cross of St. Andrew on it. The chalice stands for our emphasis on the importance of regular, open communion. We observe the Lord's Supper weekly, and all are invited to partake. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, and his cross on the chalice indicates our roots there.

You may also have seen a green hand with something seeming to grow out of it. That is an indication that Westhampton is a Green Chalice congregation, meaning we are officially recognized as such by our denomination's organization which promotes responsible environmental stewardship.
